Frequently Asked Questions

FDR is not the original lender or account owner, why are they reaching out to me?

FDR works with a variety of companies to acquire outstanding accounts. Ownership of the accounts and original rights and terms of the agreement are transferred to Financial Debt Recovery and the outstanding balance and all interest accrued is due in full to Financial Debt Recovery.

Does FDR charge any additional interest or fees to my account?

FDR does not charge any additional interest or fees. However we will charge any fees or interest as per the original creditor agreement.

Does FDR report to the credit bureau?

Yes, FDR reports to the credit bureau. However, there options available to avoid lowering your credit score. Call into (905) 771-6000 and speak with one of our credit experts to discuss your options.

What is a credit report and how can a poor credit score impact me?

Your credit report is a summary of your credit and payment history. Lenders send information about your accounts to the credit bureaus, also known as credit reporting agencies. Your credit score is calculated based on the accounts on the report and their payment history. A high credit score indicates that an individual regularly pays back any loans or other sources of credit.

Financial institutions look at your credit report and credit score to decide if they will lend you money. They also use them to determine how much interest they will charge you to borrow money.

If you have no credit history or a poor credit history, it could be harder for you to get a credit card, loan or mortgage. It could even affect your ability to rent a house or apartment and get hired for a job.

What happens if I ignore FDR’s communications and make no attempt to resolve my debt?

Avoiding your debts will not make them disappear and can have a major impact on you. Fees and interest continue to be accrued on outstanding accounts, the debt will only grow with time.

If we are unable to reach you and you are not making an active attempt to resolve your debt, other courses of action may be considered. This may include assessment of potential legal action and can lead to wage garnishing, reposition of applicable assets or a lean on your property.
